Abstract
The subject area of the study is focused on the phenomenon of xenophobia, which has a latent impact on the absolute majority of communicative practices and socio-cultural interactions. It is illustrated that, despite its articulatory vagueness and functional insignificance, the determinative certainty of xenophobia in many cases is beyond doubt, and this actualizes the need for meticulous attention to it by the research community. It is noted that the completely objective and even natural status of xenophobia, which is based on certain genealogical prerequisites and cause-and-effect relationships, significantly problematizes the prospects for overcoming the limitations imposed by this type of latent distancing on the communicative interaction of different cultural and civilizational environments.
The genealogical rooting of xenophobia in the cultural and civilizational mentality and its latent presence in many stereotypes and automatisms of world perception are meaningfully explained. It is proved that such ontological specificity of xenophobia gives it the status of one of the main factors that hinder cultural and civilizational synthesis, ecumenism and even communicative exchanges on the principles of mutual respect. Attention is emphasized that the outlined feature actualizes the need to intensify reflective and analytical efforts aimed at eliminating the shortcomings of xenophobia.
Since the main difficulties of the objective and verified analysis of xenophobia are due to the non-equivalence of meanings and values that different socio-cultural environment operate with at the level of everyday practices, the position on the urgent need to systematize cultural and civilizational equivalents in many profile areas is conceptualized: worldview, mental, semantic, axiological, ethical. The conclusion is substantiated, according to which a consensus on cultural and civilizational equivalences is possible only on the basis of a transparent and equal discourse of representatives of different socio-cultural environments.
