Abstract
The article examines the rise of right-wing populism and anti-gender movements in the countries of the European Union and in Ukraine, which act as a new factor that significantly affects the formation and implementation of gender policy. The reasons for the growth of the influence of right-wing populist parties and leaders, as well as anti-gender initiatives in the European and Ukrainian political space, are identified. The key ideas that spread right-wing populist parties and anti-gender movements are analyzed, which include an appeal to traditional values and defined female and male social roles, an emphasis on preserving national identity and demographic reproduction as a factor in preserving the nation.
A separate analytical emphasis is placed on the problem of the influence of right-wing populism and anti-gender movements on the sphere of women's reproductive rights, in particular, restrictions and practical barriers to the implementation of the right to abortion in EU countries.
The political challenges that right-wing populist and anti-gender actors pose for modern achievements in the field of gender policy are clarified, and an attempt is made to find effective mechanisms for protecting democratic values and gender parity in EU countries and in Ukraine.
