Abstract

It has been proven that the development of information and computer technologies has triggered a series of fundamental transformational changes that have affected all spheres of human activity without exception. These shifts are so powerful and dynamic that the analog world is losing its familiar outlines. New digital “puzzles” are being integrated into the standard worldview of humanity, marking a new phase of human development commonly referred to as the information age. Each year, these changes become increasingly evident not only to the scientific community but also to the general public. Consequently, the number of skeptics and retrogrades who prefer to ignore, deny, or resist these changes is steadily decreasing. Such resistance appears futile, as this new evolutionary stage of human civilization is reshaping all spheres of life, including the individual and society.
The so-called phenomenon of the technocratic trap into which humanity has fallen is revealed. Its essence lies in the fact that total digitalization requires a vast amount of energy for storing, processing, and disseminating information. This, in turn, negatively affects the environment, undermines the fragile balance of ecosystems, and threatens the planet as a whole.
It is identified that the process of informatization has a dualistic nature. On the one hand, it enhances comfort and quality of life, but on the other, it poses new threats related to the misuse of users’ personal data, various manipulations, and destructive psychological influences. It also ambiguously impacts the structure of society, giving rise to techno-oligarchs who concentrate significant resources in their hands and attempt to influence the global political macro-system.
Furthermore, technological progress has significantly increased the economic potential of totalitarian states, which are increasingly opposing the Western democratic world due to fundamental ideological differences and specific features of political culture.
