Abstract

The article argues why the Ukrainian translation of the expression sustainable development as «sustainable development» is inadequate and suggests a proper variant: ostijnyj postup. The author shows the connection between the concepts expressed by the terms development, evolution, Tao, progress, progress, history in the context of the concept of sustainable development and characterizes sustainability as a measure of the system’s ability to maintain an orderly integrity under the influence of external and internal disorganizing influences in a forward movement with a possible redefinition of the goals of progress in the course of the next steps of the evolutionary process.
